The pleasure is all mine.

The devil destroys the peace, with no hint of emotion on her face.

Is she a tentacle girl or is she turning in to one?!?

Creepy. Almost...intestinal? :P

That's a cool way of putting it..!

Hm...Good topic but I would redraw it. It looks unfinished to be honest. The face is perfect, the white bird is nice but the rest.... You can do better than this.
Amphy Featured By Owner Dec 26, 2009  Student General Artist
Interesting! I love how devoid of emotion her face is. She has no regrets, no sorrow, nothing. Also, I love the positioning and symbolism as with the snakes and the dove. Guile and deceit, trickery, evil overcoming peace. I love how your pieces can be explored on multiple depths instead of just one, (which is how I perceive most artwork I view here. Beautiful on the surface but with not much to explore beyond). Wonderful work as always! Seeing your art in my inbox is truly an inspiration and a joy =)

Altough many think they must, the two can't go hand in hand...
rabbitears Featured By Owner Sep 27, 2009
I really like your style, but I also find it interesting how you render certain things out and leave the rest more flat (like the tentacle things towards the bottom). Your work is really inspiring!

Thanks :)

I mean try finding the hidden beauty in the world..the things that the common sense says are beautiful, puppies, hugging lovers in the sunset etc..are nomore beautiful cause they have no mistery..use the children eyes..(however your works rock, don t misunderstood me)
keep up your good work!!!
DanHowardArt Featured By Owner Sep 27, 2009  Professional Digital Artist
I think her work is instantly identifiable. Not many people can say that without finding themselves in a mass of emulated styles and subjects as they either beat a dead horse or struggle to separate from common elements that make up whatever genre they prefer.
luciole Featured By Owner Sep 27, 2009  Professional Digital Artist
No offense, but I think puppies, hugging lovers and etc are even more cheesy.
I try to bring something new in the world from my eyes, and they are not necessarily beautiful and full of happiness every time.
Sounan-306 Featured By Owner Sep 27, 2009
This is incredible...
I love her face, no emotion...

Is there a horse at the bottom? I seem to recognise the hooves and belly...

This is just so... terrifying! And I like snakes!

I love how she's shedding her skin as well, it looks fantastic
AurenGreenleaf Featured By Owner Jun 30, 2009  Student Digital Artist
Nicely done! I like how the snakes fade to simple shapes towards the bottom. The peeling snakeskin is really cool too.

Great job at implying a story with this piece.

Love and Lies... very interesting...

Love is the true feeling - heart, snakes is the Lies.
The bird is her heart, she cut it out, trying to rescue it before snakes will devour her with her heart/love to someone...

Very great and very sad picture.

She looks like bait, to feed the serpent bellies. And she likes to snack on birds in between human flesh.

lol or maybe not.

Love it though, love the texture of the cloth surrounding her, like snake skin.

love the piece, here's my take on it

It was not so long ago, on a warm day, that I crossed a child in my path.

I was out walking from village to village selling my medicines and wares when I found him sitting in the middle of the road. He was small a had a big grin much to large for his face and, stick in hand, was poking something with the greatest delight. I tried to cross his path and he took note of me, and with his wide devilish grin he addressed me.

"Did you know that all snake where once Dragons?"

Indeed long ago all snakes where dragons, flying freely to their very content, but violent where they to all they thought beneath them, and much havok did they rain down.

The gods of heaven realized that the dragons very flight unbalanced the world, and as penitence for their slights against all the tormented their legs and wings where taken from them.

But that is not the end.

The proud mother of snakes, a long and cunning serpent, longed for the flight that she and her children had lost, and thought it a simple matter to steal it back.

One day Bird landed on a low branch, and Snake look up to Bird and asked, "How do you fly?"

"In the sky." Bird replied cheerfully

"Do you think you could show me how?" Hsssed Snake.

"I don't thing so. Mostly I just flap my wings." Bird responded airily.

"Would you give me your wings?" Snake asked sweetly.

"I don't know how." Said the kindhearted bird. For Bird could no more teach another to fly, then a rock could travel the country.

"I can show you how, but only if you come closer."

Bird jumped from the branch and glided to the Forrest floor, and in that instant Snake struck out, but Bird was fast.

"You are wicked, Snake!" Chirped Bird angrily, "I'll see to it that no other birds fall for your cunning words" and with that Bird flew off.

Snake was beside herself, her plan had failed, but she would not give in so easily. Snake new that all birds trusted the spirit of the earth that lived deep in the wood, and so she formulated a plan.

It was well known that deep in the wood, a spirit of soil slept at night, but in the morning arose and flowed into a hollow porcelain shell of a beautiful woman, and during the day this porcelain woman walk the wood upholding the rules of the forest and talking to its inhabitants.

That night the charming Snake took the porcelain shell, and she and her children filled it. The then went to the edge of the wood and beckoned Bird to come near. Bird was confused the lady of stone had always let her perch on her, but she was never up this late, so bird flew near.

The snakes motioned the hand of the goddess smoothly out so that bird may perch in their trap.

Bird alighted on the hand, "How are you this eve?"

"I will have your flight now." Snake hissed venomously. And snapped shut the hand of porcelain around birds fragile body.

Bird let out a hideous screech and died, but this sound awakened the spirit of earth, and she arose with a quake tossing the porcelain shell to the ground it form breaking and snakes pouring out.

The Spirit was angry and full of hate and rage at the actions of snake that she punished snake to sacrifice her own skin, to die and be reborn every year, to the Spirit, and so snake could never lie again the Spirit split her tong.

The boy finished his story stood up and ran off disappearing into the wood around the path. In the middle of the road where he'd been playing I could clearly see the object he'd been poking.

The hollow husk of a shed snake skin.

Hope you liked the story, by-the-by is it ok if I post this story as a deviation?

It seems to be the bad aspect behind everything, even the most beautiful. And it´s the fooling fassade of beauty.

May I ask what your original vision was?
ryuusei-illusion Featured By Owner Mar 22, 2009  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I just had to pop in and say;

She reminds me of Lilith, Adam's first wife, who is commonly represented by snakes.

The mood of the picture brims with the succubus atmosphere that Lilith is commonly associated with as well. =3

beautiful. the symbolism is very powerful. nicely done!
soundofsouls13 Featured By Owner Mar 13, 2009  Student General Artist
a small story?...ok here is this:

as she reaches for her dreams she is pulled away,
torn to the point of blood between reality and fantasy. She longs for a place of happiness and love but instead is met by brutality, anger and lies. the constant hatred, and false smiles, has put her in a place of doubt and she is constantly temped to ' let herself go' but a part of her still weekly clings to her bright but soon to die dreams.

art can only truly be art my dear if it makes the viewer feel an emotion...and that can be ANY emotion.... :D keep up your good work i enjoy it hun!
ForestDanceOfAleKai Featured By Owner Mar 13, 2009
She's a woman you can't help but love. but she's also full of poison. She's born of deceit.
Orlia Featured By Owner Mar 13, 2009  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Haha, it's a tricky deception. She is enjoying in the feed after a horse or something that's below her feet, the dove's like a desert. The blood on her cheek and heart is from the bird but gives the illution that she's sorry because she cried and her heart broke...when in actually fact ''the pleasures all hers'' and the dove has his heart broklen with 'tears' pringing from his heart.
Maybe the white vail thing is she shedding her skin or a wedding gown...they always have doves at weddings. The groom is below her? lol

The ghost of a ritual sacrifice, rising above the other sacrifices to take revenge...

I think I see cow legs at the bottom? Really awesome artwork. Very thought provoking :)

Dance with me; cast your life asunder. Let the lust and the rhythm take you and make you mine. I know it hurts, darling, to leave all you know for one night of glory, pain, happiness, and shame. To exit stage-left and trip into the shadows. Let it take you and make you mine.
